Statistics: Russia’s inflation at 0.4% in May, 2.9% since Jan 1
MOSCOW, Jun 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation remained flat on the month at 0.4% in May and stood at 2.9% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said Monday.
Annual inflation remained flat on the month at 7.3% in May.
Russia’s food inflation remained at 0.4% in May, while annual food inflation sped up to 5.6% from 5.3% in April.
Prices for live and chilled fish increased 2.6% in May, while prices for frozen fish rose 1.7%.
Cucumber prices fell 15.6%, tomatoes prices by 15.4%, orange prices decreased 3.2%, prices for bananas, nuts, pears, and garlic went down by 0.1–0.7%.
Onion prices grew 17.4%, potatoes prices by 15.4%, prices for cabbage, carrot and lemons by 7.5–11.1%, grape prices rose 1.5% and apple prices increased 1.3%.
